Ostrich Core (Walruses)

Introducing walruses to Minecraft. Initially conceived as a light-hearted joke for my girlfriend, hence the name Ostrich Core.

Ostrich Core Overview

This mod adds a single animal to your gaming experience.

You guessed correctly: Walruses.

Explore snowy or cold biomes, and you’ll find these creatures near icy bodies of water. They are generally friendly… until provoked or if you threaten their companions. At that point, they will retaliate.

What to Expect

Taming and Breeding

• You can tame a walrus by offering it raw fish.

(Avoid pufferfish at all costs.)

• To breed walruses, use buckets filled with either cod or salmon.

When Tamed

• A domesticated walrus will accompany you.
• Right-click to ride it.
• Shift + right-click will command it to stay put.
• Press and hold space to build up for a “dash” move. (Designed for speedy water traversal, but can also be used on land.)

Swimming Abilities

• Walruses are exceptional swimmers, serving as efficient mounts for traversing vast ocean distances rapidly. Plus, due to their substantial blubber, they sustain only half damage from attacks.
