Marine
Introducing the first functional mod for boats in Minecraft PE, named “Marine (Boats)“. This mod features a sailboat, jet ski, and speedboat. The control mechanisms vary slightly for each type of boat, but their core functionalities remain largely consistent. Currently, mods are still somewhat limited, which means that certain aspects, like the movement system in MCPE, may not be perfect.
How to Ride a Boat?
Exploring the seas can be an exciting adventure in the world of Minecraft Pocket Edition, especially if you have a speedboat, sailboat, or cool jet ski at your disposal. Riding any of these new watercraft is quite straightforward and actually much more convenient (and effortless) than using a standard boat in MCPE.
- iOS / Android: Long press on the vehicle, select Ride, then hold the oars (carrot) / key (carrot on a stick) to start paddling/driving.
- Windows 10: Right-click on the vehicle, then hold the oars (carrot) / key (carrot on a stick) to begin paddling/driving.
Sailboat (Oars), Speedboat (Key), Jet Ski (Key)
Multiple players should be able to use the vehicles simultaneously, though I couldn’t get this feature to work in-game.
Sailboat: Operated with oars, replaces the strider
Speedboat: Controlled using a key, replaces the ghast
You can press the Boost button to increase the speed of the boat while riding it in Minecraft Pocket Edition. You’ll see bubbles forming in the water behind the boat.
Jet Ski: Operated using a key, replaces the creeper
One challenge is how to position the vehicle correctly. For this, you’ll need a chain (which replaces the lead) to pull the boat up or down in Minecraft PE to place it properly in the water. After that, you can detach the chain, hop into the vehicle, and start using it.
Installing Marine (.mcaddon)
- Download the mod labeled as “.mcpack” below.
- Run the downloaded file to import the addon/texture into MCPE.
- Open Minecraft Pocket Edition and navigate to the world settings.
- Set the imported options for the world:
— Resource Packs.
— Add-on Packs. - Select the imported resource/addon packs in each section.
- It’s recommended to restart the game client Minecraft PE afterward.
- Launch Minecraft Pocket Edition, enter the previously configured world MCPE, and enjoy the addon!
