Better Revive
A death & revive system with graves, revive potions, grave compass and revive scroll!
🪦 Better Revive – A Complete Death & Revive System
Better Revive adds a full death management system to Minecraft. When you die, your items are stored in a grave — not scattered across the ground. Your friends can revive you with special potions, and a compass guides you back to your belongings.
Built for SMP servers with PvP balance in mind.
⚔️ Core Features:
🪦 Grave System
When you die, an invisible grave appears at your death location with your player head floating above it
Persistent First Grave: Only your first grave remains permanent. A new persistent grave will only spawn after the first one has been destroyed.
Temporary Graves: If you die while traveling to your first grave, a second grave appears only while you are on the death screen (allowing teammates to revive you). Once you respawn, this temporary grave is destroyed.
A countdown timer is displayed above the grave showing remaining time (configurable by admins)
Your entire inventory is safely stored inside — armor, hotbar, everything
Walk up to your grave and right-click to retrieve all your items
If the timer runs out, items drop on the ground for anyone to pick up
📜 Resurrection Scroll
Instantly Teleport: Use this magical scroll to teleport directly to your active grave.
Escape Danger: Perfect for recovering items in hard-to-reach places or dangerous dimensions.
💊 Revive Potions (3 Tiers)
Brew special potions to revive fallen teammates directly from the death screen — no need to respawn first!
Revive Potion I
Revive Potion II
Revive Potion III
How it works:
🧭 Grave Compass
After a normal respawn (without revive potion), you receive a Grave Compass
The compass needle points toward your grave (uses Lodestone tracking!)
Hold the compass to see a directional arrow + distance in the action bar: ☠ Grave: ⬆ 145m (Y: 64)
Right-click the compass to open a Grave Contents Screen showing everything inside
From the screen, you can choose to dissolve the grave — dropping all items publicly for other players
The compass cannot be dropped — it’s automatically removed when the grave is collected, dissolved, or expires
Works across dimensions — shows “Other Dimension” if your grave is in the Nether/End
⏱️ Revive Cooldown
After being revived by a potion, a Revive Lock prevents immediate re-reviving (configurable, default 60s)
The lock timer is shown in the action bar and on the grave itself (blue text)
If someone tries to throw a potion while the lock is active, both players get a message with the remaining time
🧪 Recipes

🎮 Gameplay Flow
Scenario 1: Normal Death (No Revive)
You die → grave appears → death message with coordinates
You respawn → receive a Grave Compass
Follow the compass needle to your grave
Right-click the grave → all items restored to original slots
Compass disappears automatically
Scenario 2: Revived by Teammate
You die → grave appears
Teammate throws Revive Potion at your grave
You see “Accept / Decline” on your death screen
Accept → teleported to grave with all items + tier-based debuffs
60 second Revive Lock starts (can’t be revived again immediately)
Scenario 3: Grave Expires
You die → grave appears with countdown timer
Timer runs out → items drop on the ground
Your compass is removed + notification message
Anyone can pick up the dropped items
🌍 Multi-Dimension Support
Graves work in Overworld, Nether, and End
The Revive Potion must be thrown in the same dimension as the grave
The Grave Compass shows “Other Dimension” when your grave is in a different world
Teleportation after revive works across dimensions

💡 PvP Balance Notes
Better Revive was designed with competitive servers in mind:
Revive Lock prevents revive-spam in PvP fights
Tier-based debuffs make cheap revives risky (1 heart + slowness + weakness)
Only works while player is on the death screen — can’t revive after respawn
Accept/Decline system prevents unwanted revives
Dead player can’t collect items before deciding — no exploit possible
Graves have a time limit — no permanent item storage
