Minecraft PE 26.40.31 [Beta]

Minecraft PE 26.40.31 is Beta/Preview 26.40.31 from July 14, 2026. Arrows of Harming no longer bounce off mobs; they despawn on hit. Some phones can turn Vibrant Visuals back on after a wrong device-tier read. Android gets Beta; Windows, Xbox, PlayStation and iOS get Preview. The branch is 26.40, not 26.50. This build does not add camps or cushions — those already sat in earlier 26.40 previews behind the Drop 3 switch.

Harming arrow farms after MCPE-239756

The note is one line: Arrows of Harming no longer bounce off entities and are correctly removed on hit (MCPE-239756). The arrow struck a mob, bounced, and kept killing. After this beta 26.40 the projectile leaves the world on impact. A short official comment on Minecraft Beta & Preview — 26.40.31 says the bug lived in minecraft:projectile handling and a single-arrow loop was not the design. Farms that leaned on that bounce stop working on client 26.40.31. No replacement layout belongs here.

Wrong device tier, Vibrant Visuals greyed out

Some devices picked the wrong device tier, so Vibrant Visuals stayed off (MCPE-239742). The toggle went grey on hardware that could run the mode. Preview 26.40.31 reads the tier again. That is not a new shader pack and not a frame-rate pledge — the menu item is usable. If Vibrant Visuals already opened on your phone, you do not install this wave for graphics alone. Pair it with shaders.

Marketplace skin packs cleaned by LRU

Skin and Character Creator packs grabbed while browsing the Marketplace catalog now flush on a least-recently-used rule and leave less disk behind (MCPE-239513). That is leftover try-on clutter from the storefront, not a speed claim. Skins is the matching shelf if packs pile up next to the beta. Several gameplay crashes closed in one changelog sentence, with no crash names.

Install client 26.40.31 if Vibrant Visuals is grey on the phone, Marketplace try-ons pile up, or you need to test Harming arrows. Vanilla survival without Harming shots and without a grey graphics toggle can skip this beta. Do not flip Drop 3 just for this file. July 26.40 previews sit under News.
