Minecraft PE 1.26.20.22 [Beta] — Party Chat, Realms Hub & Vibrant Visuals Expansion

Minecraft Preview 1.26.20.22 pushes deeper into Drop 2 2026. This beta finally makes the Party system useful with dedicated group chat, adds a Realms Hub dashboard for server management, and extends Vibrant Visuals support to shelves, Nautilus armor, Ghast cords, and music discs. Plus you can now generate worlds with only Dripstone Caves if you hate surface biomes. 19 bug fixes and 39 technical API changes round out the build. Backup your worlds—experimental features ahead.

7 Changes — Social Features & Rendering

  1. Vibrant Visuals Expansion: The experimental graphics mode now renders correctly for:
    • Shelves: Proper light occlusion and shadow casting for item display blocks
    • Nautilus Armor: Shell textures now reflect environment light instead of glowing flat
    • Ghast Cords: Leads made from Ghast tears show proper tensile physics and lighting
    • Music Discs: Disc items in jukeboxes and inventory now have parallax depth when VV is active
  2. Party System 2.0 — Dedicated Group Chat:
    • Text chat separated from main game chat (no more spamming the public feed with party coordination)
    • Persists across world switches—you can chat while your party leader loads a new Realm
    • Cross-platform: Xbox, Windows, iOS, Android all synced
    • Realms limitation: Only works if all members have active subscriptions (no free riders)
  3. World Administrator Role: Realm owners can now designate “World Admins” with permissions between member and owner—kick/ban powers without full billing access. Useful for moderating large community servers without handing over your credit card info.
  4. Realms Hub: New unified dashboard combining world management, member activity tracking, and settings in one screen. No more digging through three sub-menus to check who griefed your spawn.
  5. Group Realm Joining: Parties can now join Realms as a unit. One click invites the whole squad instead of manual invites per player. Streamlines massive build sessions.
  6. Subtitle Settings: You can now adjust subtitle duration (short/normal/long) and position (bottom/center/top). Accessibility win for deaf/hard-of-hearing players and noisy households.
  7. Dripstone Caves Only Worlds: New world generation option creates maps composed entirely of Dripstone Cave biomes. Surface is just more cave. Perfect for underground survival challenges or technical redstone builds without daylight interference.

19 Bug Fixes — From Statistics to Hitboxes

Category Fix Details
Statistics Stats screen now displays large values correctly instead of overflowing to negative integers (no more “-1 hours” on massive playtime counts).
Multiplayer Fixed infinite loading loops when joining multiplayer sessions—connections now timeout properly after 30 seconds instead of hanging on “Connecting to server” forever.
Audio Fall landing sounds now trigger exactly at ground contact frame, not 0.5 seconds early or late. Fixes the “silent drop then thud later” desync.
Entity Lighting Mushrooms on Mooshroom backs now receive correct ambient lighting—they no longer look like black spots in dark caves or blinding white in daylight.
Particles Golden Dandelion particles now spawn above baby mob heads instead of at their feet. Visual feedback finally matches the intended “aging stop” effect.
Platform Compliance Fixed Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 free trial advertisement display—banners now show correct regional availability and don’t block the main menu buttons.
Hitboxes Baby mob hitboxes recalibrated for the new models introduced in 1.26.10.x. No more shooting “invisible air” around baby cows.
Realms Attempting to join a Realm without an active subscription no longer soft-locks the game—proper error message displays with return-to-menu option.
Stability General gameplay crash fixes related to entity ticking in unloaded chunks and inventory compression on low-RAM devices.
UI Scaling Interface elements now scale correctly when switching resolutions (windowed mode ↔ fullscreen) without requiring restart. Buttons no longer overlap on ultrawide monitors.

Technical Changes — 39 API Updates

Add-on creators get fresh hooks:

  • Party system integration API (minecraft:party_chat event listeners)
  • Realms Hub UI scripting support ( realms_hub_config JSON schemas)
  • Vibrant Visuals material templates for custom armor and items
  • World generation JSON now supports "dripstone_caves_only" biome filter
  • Subtitle positioning controller exposed to resource packs (ui/subtitle_overlay.json)
  • Administrator role permission nodes (operator_level: 2 differentiation)

BETA WARNING: This is 1.26.20.22—Drop 2 experimental. Party chat may drop messages during world transitions. Realms Hub UI is unfinished and shows placeholder text in some languages. Dripstone-only worlds have no surface wood, making early survival brutal. Save your backups before installing; this build uses protocol version 1.26.20.
