Playing over a local network with a friend (Wi-Fi) [Minecraft PE Guides]

This guide is designed for players who enjoy gaming with their friends. Here, I will explain how to play with a friend using Wi-Fi in Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

How to play Minecraft PE over a local network?

To get started, you will need:

• Two phones with Wi-Fi
• One of the phones must have the ability to share Wi-Fi (more details below)

Let’s begin. First, take the first phone that has the Wi-Fi sharing feature. I will use the example of a Samsung Galaxy A5. Go to the settings:
Next, select Modem and Access Point:
Then enable the Mobile Hotspot:

That’s it! We have activated Wi-Fi sharing on the first device. Now your task is to connect the second device to the first via Wi-Fi:
If you successfully connected, you’ve completed the first part of the setup. Now both devices should launch the game. The device providing Wi-Fi needs to create or load an existing game. In other words, start playing as usual. On the second device, go to the “Friends” tab. You should see the game hosted by the first player, provided everything was done correctly. Unfortunately, there’s no screenshot of the first player here since I don’t have a second device available, but I believe you’ll manage just fine.
